Shasta's Beach House II

Great location, stunning sunrise views as well as sunset if you look to your right. Easily walkable to fishing pier, restaurants, etc. The elevator was awesome - saved a lot of time than walking up any stairs. Property management was awesome and easy to work with. Will be back!

Great beach access and views of the water and great location to walk to restaurants and pubs. We enjoyed the multiple decks and the elevator was a must
with a fractured knee. The stairs are outside but were safe.
The house is not remodeled like many, but is charming and we enjoyed our stay!

It’s hard to find a better location for a home - right on the beach and centrally located. The home itself, however, is in disrepair and in need of major attention. Broken windows that don’t close, missing blinds in the bedrooms preventing privacy, and the cleanliness was unsatisfactory. We had to spend time cleaning all the dish ware, utensils, and glassware because they were visibly dirty. There was a half-smoked cigar and ashtray on the porch, and sand covering the floors. Furthermore, there are no internal stairs, so your options going floor to floor are either to wait for the slow elevator or take the outdoor winding staircase. Generally, if you have nowhere else to stay, this place is fine but I’d look for other properties before booking this one.

The location could not be more perfect! The rental management staff was friendly and helpful.

The location was perfect. The house was lovely but needed a bit of cosmetic sprucing up. The elevator was a great feature and worked perfectly once my guest and I remembered to close ALL of the doors. The kitchen seemed adequately stocked but we didn't do any cooking.

The location is fantastic, right on the beach, but the house needs repair and cleaning. Deck has rotted sections, 3rd floor doors to the deck need replacement. Found a dirty pot (leftover food) stored away.

This house being right on the beach is so convenient. There were a few wear and tear issues with the house but nothing detrimental to our stay. I believe some issues were getting fixed after we checked out. We were also able to walk to the pier for dinner at night so that was also very convenient.

This was our 2nd stay at this house. The first time was a full disappointment because the house had so many problems. This time a large portion of the problems had been repaired. I hope the next visit will find more windows repaired and the rotted platform for washing the sand off your feet replaced. After all that I would like to say WE LOVE THE HOUSE. It has so much to offer and the location is perfect.

We had a great time at Shasta's Beach House. Incredible views, perfect location, and plenty of space. We highly recommend this rental and look forward to coming back again.

We had a great experience with this beachfront house! The location is perfect, plenty of space and it was nice having a choice of elevator vs stairs. We would definitely rent this lovely beach house out again!!!

I arranged for 3 couples, friends for over 40 years, from WA, LA,& TX to stay here for my son's wedding. They are still talking about how great the stay was. There was a water leak that flooded the kitchen and resulted in a water outage on Friday. This delayed some in showering and getting dressed for the Friday event, but maintenance response was prompt. Great property.

We enjoyed being so close to the beach and loved the covered balconies on every floor. The windows in the queen room and bunkbed room don't close all the way. It made the rooms too warm at night and when the wind blew there was a howling sound. We had to put towels in the one to two inch gaps in the windows. It is also a little challenging when you only have an elevator inside the house and no stairs. The only stairs are outside. Other than that, we really enjoyed being close to the beach and the pier. We do plan on a return visit to this house and we hope the windows will be fixed.

Good: awesome location! Direct access onto the beach from the back deck; beautiful views, can walk to lighthouse, stores, restaurants, etc. I never got in the car again after we arrived. Big house with large rooms. The different floors allowed privacy for 2 couples when it came to bedrooms, but we were also able to share the common space with living room/ kitchen.

Bad: The place was not clean for the fee previous tenant paid. The utility drawer in kitchen with knives, spatulas, etc. was disgusting and full of mold. There is nothing in the kitchen as starters - no salt/pepper, no spices, no coffee, no dish soap. While the rooms were spacious, the fact your choice was an old, slow internal elevator or external spiral staircase to get from floor to floor (room to room) was strange. We had multiple outlets inside and out that didn’t’ work. I called the first day to let management know; said they would come look next day but never did.

We enjoyed our week at Shasta's Beach House II. The house was very clean and we were especially pleased with how well equipped the kitchen was. The direct beach access was a huge benefit as we had different age ranges that could easily come and go as they wanted. Really enjoyed sitting outside on the beach after dinner catching up with all of our family as the waves rolled in and the sun set. A new sliding door on the living room level was really nice and it appears that some windows on the bunk room floor are being replaced or need to be replaced. Elevator made it easy to access all 4 floors and the outside staircase was fine to use as well. Loved walking and biking down to the pier. GREAT LOCATION! Would stay here again.

We had a wonderful time. This is a great property in a perfect location. We highly recommend to anyone looking to be on the water.

The good- fantastic location. Beach is right off the bottom porch, no walk way or anything, it's right there. All the shops and restaurants downtown and the lighthouse are a short walk away. Depending on the tide, you can take the beach. There is also a convenient store and liquor store within a short walk. We loved not moving the car. Which brings me to the first negative- parking is a mess if there are people staying in the house beside you. But the listing says limited parking, so no big deal for us, we knew that going in and decided to deal with it. The main issue is the unsafe balconies. There are soft rotted spots in many areas. We were a group of adults and could use common sense to stay away but if I had been with my children I would not have remained in the rental. It should not be rented as is. Those were main things worth noting. Additionally, the house has a choppy weird layout. Strange rooms that make sq footage unusable, then there is a weird blocked off staircase. Locking up before heading out was a pain because you need to lock 3 floors individually with so many exterior entries. The exterior stairs are very steep. The first level was the best part, aside from location. The furniture there was nice. Furniture in the rest of the house wasn't so nice. Everything was clean aside from the dishes. They weren't super dirty, but we did have to wash them all before using. The provided cookware is useless, bring your own if you plan to cook. We had to make eggs in a pot. The people I spoke with prior to renting were all very nice and check in/out was super easy. You do have to pick up and drop off the keys instead of a lockbox, but its a relatively close and convenient location. The only disappointment in the rental agency is that they have an unsafe rental. None of us would stay here again, which is really a shame given the phenomenal location.

Real Escapes was very responsive and accomadating. The property location was ideal.

Not a fancy beachhouse but comfortable with "garage sale" furnishings that were comfortable and adequate since we spent most of our time on the beach or on the great porches. The house was clean upon arrival, kitchen had everything we needed and plenty of linens available. By the end of the vacation rental period, the house could use some TLC inside. Outside around the house needed a clean up as it was hard for children and dog to avoid brush and weeds. Would rent again mainly for the location. Getting to 4 floors was a challenge with the slow elevator inside and spiral stairs outside but we were aware of this before we rented.

We rented this house because it had direct beach access. The location was terrific and we enjoyed that part of the rental. However we were very disappointed in the house. The furniture is old and not very clean. The whole house could use a good thorough cleaning. The kitchen was well equipped which was great. The linens were old and the beds were all uncomfortable. We also had trouble with one of the heating units making a very loud noise. Another odd thing is that there is an elevator, but we found it annoying to use. The only available other staircase is the outside metal spiral staircase. This could be a beautiful property but is in need of lots of work including new windows. We would never rent this property again.

Excellent owner, management, location, view, elevator. Easy walk to shops and restaurants (CJ's and Barbara Jean's). Decor and furnishings not up to five star. Would definitely stay again.

The property is in an ideal location to get around St. Simons. Our group had a very nice time in the house. Sea Escapes is there to help when needed.

Enjoyed working with Real Escapes everyone was very nice, helpful and friendly. The location of the house is the was clean and we had everything we needed. As far as well maintained beautiful home but it does need some love on the outside. Would like the exterior doors to have locked and the step railing needs some repair.

This is our second year at Shasta's II. We love this homey, comfortable house. From the first time we saw it, it was love at first sight. Watching the dolphins, pelicans, and huge car carriers go by the house in the ocean was a special treat. You can't beat Shasta's location. It's 3 blocks from the downtown area but much closer if the tide is out and you take a short walk down the beach to town. The restaurants are not fancy but neither are the prices. They serve amazing seafood and fabulous BBQ. If you like a t-shirt as a reminder of your awesome time on St. Simons you're in luck.
You have lots of shops to choose from. As for the water, the gentle slope of the sea floor make it perfect for kids to splash in the surf. We brought a inflatable kayak and headed for the horizon each morning. Shasta's covered porches got a lot of use. If you wanted "me" time you just had to head for one that was unoccupied. When we go back next year, it will be like coming home again. We think of Shasta's as our special home away from home. It's as comfy as can be with plenty of room for everyone. We love this place.

Views from every porch, well equipped kitchen, wonderful mattresses and literally steps to the beach. We are 5 retired educators who enjoy relaxing. This was the best place we have found and we have been going together annually for 35 years!

Location on the beach perfect! Elevator access to all floors was wonderful. Kitchen supplies were excellent (once cleaned). House, however, is in desperate need of maintenance repair - so sad to see such a lovely home falling apart. Also very disappointed on lack of any beach supplise ie chairs or toys or outdoor maintenance.

Although there were some issues with the property - most notably, none of the outside doors could be locked, even though public access can be obtained easily via the staircase on the back porch. Also, both master bathroom showers had missing/moldy grout around the doors, and leaked through the shower doors. Also the living room furniture arms were black with mold/dirt.

The House took care of all our needs. A lot of space and a wonderful view. REP made it very easy for us.

The house was beautiful, couldn't have had a better view. You could tell that the owners tried to have everything in the house that one may need during vacation.
The house outside was a bit beaten up. That's just part and parcel of being beach front. The rocking chairs would have been wonderful but they were rotten. Two were completely unusable and the rest wouldn't rock properly. Upon arrival, we sat on the couches inside the living area and they were coated in sand. We understand that this is a pet friendly home but housekeeping had been there before we arrived.....wouldn't they have checked those couches?
Took us a few days to figure out how to lock the doors leading to the balconies so some up front info on that would've been nice.
Again, it was a beautiful home, best view on the whole island and very well appointed. The location was perfect. We walked to breakfast, lunch and dinner!

We loved the location of this house and had beach at all times. The inside of the house was extremely clean, except for the dishwasher in the kitchen. The outside could use some work, such as new porch chairs, painting porch railing, and yard work (weed eating path to beach)

We stayed in the historic district. Only 3 blocks from the downtown area, it was an easy walk to some of the greatest food and fun shops I've ever experienced. Tours are available to get you acquainted with the history of this fascinating area. The beaches are firm which allows you to ride bikes close to the waves. It's a great way to see the homes along the beach from a whole new angle. This is a very civilized island with great shopping, friendly natives, and amazing food. I love the island and all it has to offer. We've already made our reservations for next summer.

Great house in an excellent location. Very happy with my experience and plan to return again in the fall.

The view of the ocean was wonderful. The house itself is pretty much a dump. There was broken furniture (chairs) on the porches. The garage was very dirty and had old furniture and a hospital bed stored in it. There was no mirror in the bathroom near the bed room with the bunk beds for several days... after calling one was installed. The elevator worked fine but is terribly slow and inconvenient. The furniture in level two is very dirty and stained. We would not even sit in it. Having said this.. SSI is a wonderful place and we have vacationed there for the last 12 years so we a great visit...just sub par accommodations for one of the best vacation spots in the south.
