Leapin' Lizard Cottage

Property was as described, and we had a great time with family.

We were just a couple of blocks away from the beach and was easy to walk or take a cart to public access points. The cottage was described great in the add. Kitchen had everything we needed to use and also had a Keurig. We loved our stay and would return!

It was very comfortable.

First, loved the location, close to beach and dining. Good parking areas. Some suggestions to improve the stay:
1- Make available outside running water, reduces the sand tracked inside, in tubs and a courtesy for renters to wash beach items after use.
2- Only one TV in cottage, not even a HD TV. Most rentals have a TV in all bedrooms, not here.
3- HVAC filters should be changed regularly, the return was full of dust! Didn't appear to have been changed in months!
4- Every receptacle in bedrooms was loose, plug-ins always fell-out.
5-Hallway shower couldn't be set to comfortable level, would go from hot to cold while in.
6-Would be nice if den furniture was upgraded. Needs a true sofa, a lounger is not a sofa.
7-Do away with the make-shift head and foot boards, current ones rocked every time you got in or out of bed.
8- Update vanities in both baths.
9- Didn't appear lawn service ever weeds the backyard areas, nice patio/deck, but weeds and poison ivy was abundant in both front and back.
Sorry to be a "downer", having rented homes on SSI for the last 12 summers, most cottages have been updated to stay up with the competition. I feel the owner needs to hear these comments and know what renters expect and what needs improvements. I was planning to get your email when we stopped on Saturday, but you were not open. Please pass these comments on to the owners. However, you don't need to place this on your website review.

We were only in Saint Simons for 3 nights, but we really enjoyed ourselves. We didn't get to use the kitchen much but it looked to have had anything you could need to cook in the house. The couches and beds were comfortable. The back patio was beautiful.
We were able to walk to Mallery St and many restaurants.
I definitely recommend the Leapin Lizard Cottage!

We had a fabulous SSI stay at the Leapin' Lizards Cottage. Plenty of parking for our large SUV, my parent's cars when they visited and our golf cart. Beds were very comfortable and we easily slept 2 adults, 3 teens and the baby in the bed rooms. My favorite feature was an extremely well-stocked kitchen! The kids were so excited for the waffle maker, we had to make a trip to Harris Teater the day we arrived to stock up. We loved the outdoor space, great patio furniture and we appreciated being able to use the charcoal grill a few nights. The full size washer and dryer were also well used. We will be booking again for next year! A great neighborhood with friendly residence, walking dogs, waving hi! Easy to get to all the island's key sites. We would highly recommend.

The home was in great condition and we had plenty of space! The backyard and patio area was amazing, as it was nice to sit and relax after a long day at the beach. The ability to walk to nearby restaurants was a great bonus!

We loved our short stay on St Simons. This property fit our family well, had everything we needed and was a short walk to the beach or drive to shopping and restaurants. Real Escapes was great to work with - they made our stay really easy so we could focus on relaxing and having fun!

It was our first time renting through Real Escapes, very easy to use website and book. We will definitely be back!

We had a great time at Leapin Lizard Cottage. Roomy, nicely decorated, great kitchen, handy to shops and walkable to beach. Nice yard for our dog. We will return. Nicest place we have stayed in on St Simon's after many previous visits to other rentals.

A wonderful cottage to vacation with or without pets. The location had wonderful, convenient access to beaches, restaurants and the village. The cottage was roomy and kitchen was well stocked with everything you could need. The back deck was such a bonus with plenty of comfy seating and a nice table & chairs if you enjoy outdoor dining & a grill to boot. The fenced backyard was perfect if you bring your pet. Only a couple things to note, could not figure out how to get the TV operational, and there were no instructions to be found. We were very busy while there, so we only tried to use it late at night and did not reach out for help with that. The floors, especially the bedroom throw rug, had quite a layer of sand when we arrived. Also a good bit of dog fur remained on some of the seating. Overall, it was the perfect spot for our stay and we would definitely want to stay there again!!

Satying is always the best part of the trip since your houses are so cute and feel like home.

The back patio sold us on the rental, it was amazing and we spent mornings and evenings out there.

Plenty of room for our family of 4 and my in-laws. Beds were really my only negative, they squeaked every time you moved. Maybe we are just used to foam mattresses, but of my goodness.

Excellent 3 bedroom cottage which was well stocked and clean. About 3 blocks to the beach access to a very quiet stretch of beach. We loved it in every way!

We had a very enjoyable experience at the Leapin Lizard. The house was ideal for three couples plus a dog. We enjoyed the back patio and the house was spacious and very functional. In addition the location worked well, it was only a short walk to the beach which was ideal for daily dog walks. The neighborhood was nice and quiet with many other dog owners in the area. Overall this house helped make for a wonderful family reunion. Our only issue was that the second bathroom toilet didn't flush well. The property manager quickly responded and resolved the problem.

My family and I really enjoyed our stay. First trip to St. Simon's. The property was great we even brought our grandog. Really great area, couple of blocks from beach. We enjoyed going shopping and dining! Did some sightseeing but need to come back for more. Our property was fully stocked with everything we needed! Kitchen was amazing. Plenty of room throughout the cottage! The decor was great! Will definitely come back! Only one thing which wasnt bad, toilet was wobbly in one bath. Thanks for sharing your home!! The only time with management was check in check out, no problems! Reservations I looked on line and ended up going through Vrbo. Maybe next time I can go straight through to Real Escape Properties.

Good location. We loved the back yard area. Someone stole our fire wood on three evenings, we presume that they did not like our having a fire.

We have rented this home in numerous occasions and it is perfect for our needs. Great location, quiet area but within walking distance of shopping, dining and the beach.

Very great place for dogs. Clean. Reasonable. Close to the Village and the Pier. Close to the beach also.

The only thing I would do if I had this rental is to put grab bars in the showers. The toilet in one of the bathrooms needs to be secured better.

We enjoyed our stay . The house was clean , kitchen was stocked with items you would need . We used the fenced yard for our dogs which worked out well . Located well to down town.

We had a great time. It was perfect for our needs! Outside area was nice for the kids with a few toys available. Did not have to worry about anyone breaking anything. Kid friendly! Loved that I could bring the dog! Walked to the beach. Would recommend someone go through the house and get rid of old items that don’t work like the toaster, upgrade the appliances extra. Would definitely rent again

This is a great house and only a five minute walk to the beach. The outdoor seating area was nice. The kitchen, bathrooms and bedrooms were clean; however, the house is in need of a deep clean - dust buildup on fans, furniture, vanities. The front door was so dirty that we had to clean off debris and cobwebs. Kitchen cabinets and pantry had old torn shelf paper which just made it seem dirty. I had to buy a plug in air freshener because the house smelled so moldy/musty - this is probably due to the air being set on 80 degrees when checking out. I would rent this house again even with the issue we had.

The house is in a great neighborhood, easy walk to beach access. Easy in/out to get to nearby locations. We enjoyed our stay. The house needs a little TLC, but we would definitely stay here again. The biggest issue we had was the backyard was a little smaller than we were expecting and there was no grass for the pups.

This house is comfortable and rustic. It provides everything you need to fall in to island time, forget about which day it is, and is accommodating to family of all ages. Stocked well with all kitchen items & towels. The outdoor covered patio with the ceiling fan is a added bonus too; without both you would not be able to enjoy the back porch in the south georgia heat. We truly had a great trip here at the Leaping Lizard Cottage.

I would personally like to thank the owner Betsy for our Sand Castle gift certificate; you didn't have to but my family did savor the breakfast.

The property is one of our favorites. The outside area is GREAT, the location is GREAT, the decor is GREAT. We love it. But, a deep clean is in order (and should be scheduled at least once every 3 months or so) and some good cleaning or replacing on throw pillows is needed. Many throw pillows have unidentified stains, we hung a towel up over a door and when we took it off, it was filthy. One of the air vents in the living room had black "stuff" (hubby thinks mold) coming out the sides. Wooden window vents were really dusty, washed every glass in the cupboard when we got there because they did not look clean at all. Musty smell in the house (went and bought candles, made a huge difference) thinking the smell is a side-effect of the ac vent issue.

Side note, sheets don't fit great on MB bed. They slipped off every night.

Again, house is great. Location is great. But, cleaning is an issue.

We love this cottage. Back yard was very overgrown but I called your office and this was taken care of in a timely fashion. My only other issue was that the washcloths and towels did not smell very clean, a bit musty. Maybe too many washed in a single load?? As I said, we love it and always look forward to our time there.

Leapin' Lizard is a really cute house and has a great back yard that was perfect for our dog. We used all 3 bedrooms because we had two rounds of company. It's in a good location, not far from the beach and the Village.

The house was spacious and was comfortable for us. Loved the outside deck. Enjoyed sitting and having evening cocktails on the back deck.
Could have been cleaner, dusty, and floors cleaned. Noted black (mold or mildew) on ceiling of left bedroom over hanging rack. Noted black on ceiling exhaust fan in bathroom to right.
Lawn looked as if it had not been cared for in several months...weeds and overgrown, front and back.
Would recommend and would lease again if spruced up.
We did have a great time and very pleased with all the care and concern RealEscapes had in finding us a place after Irma flooded our original lease.

Cute cottage close to East Beach, attractively decorated with a great outdoor space and fenced yard, in nice quiet neighborhood. One shower curtain needed to be replaced because it was dirty, and did see a couple of roaches in the kitchen.

The neighborhood and location were great. The house had all of the amenities we needed. It was decorated in a very cute way. The only thing that we didn't like was that there were large cockroach type bugs in the kitchen. Overall it was a good place to stay.

The Leapin Lizard is the perfect setup for us. It's convenient, tastefully decorated, outstanding outdoor living, great neighbors, suitable for our pups, and reasonably priced. The only improvement I can think of would be to include a king sized bed. This will be our "go to rental" for future trips.

Great house, would definitely stay there again and recommend it. Only drawbacks were some of the fixtures are a little dated and the criling needs repairing in a couple places. However overall it was one of my favorite rentals. The back porch was wonderful and we liked the way it was decorated. As always Jan and the staff at Real Escapes were great.

We had a fantastic time at the Leapin Lizard Cottage. House was perfect for family of four, the outdoor living space was really great. We walked or road bikes just about everywhere, so the location is great for us too. We even met the neighbors, who were great. Couple negatives if I'm being picky....The construction at 7am next door every morning was really not good. Vacation = Sleep and we didn't get much with hammers, saws, and people outside two bedrooms. The back door knob came off but there were no tools anywhere to fix. I did the best I could, but probably needs to be looked at soon. The lock on the fence probably needs to be fixed soon too, as it was often difficult to close. Only one suggestion of enclosing the outdoor shower, as we loved it and would use more if enclosed.

Once again, our stay at the Leapin' Lizard Cottage exceeded our expectations. The property is within walking distance to the beach and has a lovely back porch to relax on when you need a break from the ocean. We will certainly be back again!

The cottage is a few blocks away from the beach. It is wonderful to be able to go for a walk anytime you like. We walked our dog there several times a day. The cottage is also walking distance to the pier area. The weather was good, some cold days, but even at 50 degrees with the sun and no wind it was great. Would recommend the island and the cottage for a wonderful vacation.

Lovely home well appointed with a St Simons Island comfort feel. Everything you would need for the stay on the island. We enjoyed the covered back deck and trees. Home was very spacious. We have been very satisfied with the ease to reserve and treated very nice by the the people at Real Escapes We just returned from our stay at Leapin Lizard and the home is lovely and comfortable.We really enjoyed our stay and the fenced back yard was great for our two small dogs. Would rent this property again.

If you are in need of a pet friendly rental that is just around the corner from the beach, look no further than Leapin' Lizard Cottage. The backyard deck and patio were ideal for enjoying a cup of coffee in the morning and grilling out later in the evening. The dogs even felt like they were on vacation too! We certainly hope to make this our vacation home again next year!

We fell in love with the Leapin' Lizard Cottage! It is a charming home that was both comfortable and pet friendly which made our stay all the more special. We highly recommend it!

Place was filthy. We cleaned for 2 days. We liked the location and the neighborhood was very quiet. The biggest problem here was the lack of cleaning. The cleaning service needs an inservice on how to clean.

Great place to stay on St Simons Island!

We visisted Leapin' Lizard for the Georgia/Florida game and we had a blast! The house was in the most prime location on the island. The pictures on the website did not do the house justice, as it was much nicer than what we could see from the website!

Beds were comfy, porch was awesome. Perfectly pet friendly. Could use one more tv.

We loved Leaping Lizard. It was a short walk to several restaurants, shops and the beach. The house was beautifully decorated with a fun, classy beach theme. It had plenty of space and all the beds were very comfortable. The outdoor deck was spacious with nice big couches under a shade umbrella. We used the two bikes provided by the home owners and rented an extra bike from Ocean Motion which was right down the street. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone else. Everything was perfect about this vacation house except it was missing 2 things.... a blender and a grill.
